More and more patients present to our offices with a current history of taking weight loss medications. This in-person presentation aims to provide a better understanding on what the dental team needs to know in managing these patients.

Implant retained restorations were introduced in North America at the Toronto Conference in 1982. Today, thousands of patients have been the beneficiaries of this transformative care. This in-person presentation will provide dentists and dental hygienists with a better understanding of the prevalence, etiology and management strategies to address bone loss around dental implants.

Dr Brian Freund, BSc, DDS, MD, FRCD(C), MCFP(C), Dip OMFS
Dr. Freund received his MD from McMaster University with his DDS and specialty training from University of Toronto. He practices as an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon at the Chrysalis Dental Centre in Toronto. His clinical interests are immediately loaded implant rehabilitation, neuromuscular dysfunction of the head and neck and minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. He was previously an examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a clinical instructor at the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Dentistry. His areas of research are focused on innovative techniques in immediate implant placement and the novel applications of neuromodulators in the head and neck. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally as well as authored numerous scientific papers.
Dr Steven Bongard, DDS
Dr Steven Bongard obtained his DDS degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1986. His professional interest has been concentrated on all aspects of implant dentistry since 1995. He has extensive experience in implant placement, bone grafting procedures as well as the prosthetic component of implant restoration. He has published and lectured both nationally and internationally on implant placement, full arch rehabilitation and non-grafted immediate approaches to implant surgery. He presently maintains a dental practice in Toronto, Ontario that is exclusive to the placement and restoration of dental implants. His recent focus has been on developing a community resource and training centre that can provide access to innovation, technology and advanced infrastructure, as well as support and mentoring, to the dental implant community.
Dr. Michael Glogauer, DDS, PhD, Dip. Perio
Dr. Michael Glogauer was recently appointed as head of Dental Oncology at the Princess Margret Cancer Centre, a world-class cancer facility. He is also a professor at the University of Toronto where he holds the position of chief of dentistry for the University Health Network. After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and PhD at the UofT, he went on to complete post-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. In addition to private practice, Dr. Glogauer runs several dental educational study clubs for dental professionals and lectures extensively throughout Canada and internationally. He has more than 180 peer-reviewed publications and two patents on topics of oral/dental health and treatments. Additionally, he researches periodontal disease treatment, novel diagnostic methods and treatments to improve bone prior to dental implants at the university. Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Glogauer maintains active memberships in both the Canadian and international associations for dental research, the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry, the CDA and ODA.
