Implant Rehabilitation

Category 1 (Core) - Implant Rehabilitation: A Comprehensive Evidence-Based Review

This presentation will give an overview of contemporary implantology principles, practices and technologies.

It covers the surgical and prosthetic aspects of protocols such as immediacy, delayed placement and full arch rehabilitation. It will give attendees an understanding of case selection, planning and implementation principles based on the biology of osseointegration, component engineering and functional demands. The factors that contribute to successful long-term outcomes as well as failures will be examined. Technologies that underpin the digital workflow will be discussed as part of the design principles and how they allow for options such as guided surgery and chairside prosthetic fabrication.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Develop an understanding of the multifactorial nature of successful implant rehabilitation
  • Appreciate different surgical and prosthetic protocols and how they can be utilized in different cases
  • Understand how and why implant cases fail as well as approaches to mitigation
